Marie Claire hooked up with pop star Gwen Stefani for a super edgy photo shoot. She went for a super war themed style, army. But this time around, it’s not all about the camo cargos. Try the combat boots with buckles, studs, and a slight heal or a subtly printed curse mixed with some gold glitter. Want to be a little more subtle with it? Do a tough looking watch or an army green beret instead! Rock it and march out! picture from: https://subscribe.hearstmags.com/subscribe/marieclaire/97943?source=sem_gog
Lips aren’t just for kissin’ anymore! Now they are on shirts, tights, and accessories! Marie Claire magazine featured this latest trend on earrings, necklaces, and, especially, rings! Most of the lips I’ve seen are shining bright in gems in pinks and reds, though the shirts can come in a bunch of neutral colors. I got a super cute shirt from Express for my birthday in a nude color with a big pair of glittering lips on the front. They spice up any outfit and can be worn with anything! A personal favorite? Pairing a lip ring and necklace with a black micro mini! You can match lips with lips, but don’t go over board or the guys won’t know where to kiss ya!picture from:http://royalfashionjewelry.com/silver-plated-red-lip-shaped-stretch-ring-p-438.html
For going out to dinner with my dad, I decided to go the patterned pants route with a little bit of glamour. I started with a tank with a diagonal hem line to slim my torso. The studs on the front make up a necklace to draw the eye down the middle. I paired it with a pair black and white etched skinny jeans. To finish off the look, I added a pair of bedazzled heeled flip flops, a cut black sparkly cuff, and a silver metallic clutch. For makeup I went with the blue Lancome eye shadow and a nude lip and pulled my hair down the middle.
For my last BP fashion board meeting, I wanted to look in style, but still original. So, I decided to go the grungy girl route. For my foundation piece, I chose a tight black mini skirt that I found in the BP department in Nordstroms. Now I can start adding on top of that! I took an awesome Lady Gaga graphic T (from Forever 21) that was a few sizes too big to balance out the skirt. To create layers, I paired it with a black vest that I purchased from H&M that has a pin striped pattern on the back. As for shoes, I picked a pointed black bootie that scrunched up at the ankles and put on some heavy metal jewelry (curtsey of Express) before grabbing a textured clutch by Coach. I was able to look super trendy without looking like I tried too hard!
This is where I find all of the cutest skirts, T’s, jewelry, and shoes! Enjoy!
My birthday just passed (September 25) and instead of having a big bash, I went for a more sophisticated and elegant dinner. But just because I didn’t have a crazy party doesn’t mean I didn’t follow my own advice for the perfect dress! I went with a LBD with its own flare. Made of chiffon, it had great movement and a sweetheart neckline (which I adore!). Wanting the dress to be one of my major statement pieces, I kept the accessories to a minimum and the purse small. Makeup-wise, I did a neutral eye and did the bright red lip (courtesy of Clinique Chubby Sticks in Chunky Cherry) and let my hair wave like the dress. Shoes were my second statement with killer heals pierced with spikes and jewels! The outfit came easily, I only wish my drivers test would, too!
So, if you’re someone who prefers to show off their legs (like myself!), put the statement piece on bottom! Let’s take the printed pants trend, for example. Instead of doing a skinny jean, dress it up with a clingy skirt! I get all of my patterned, form figuring skirts from the BP department in Nordstroms! There are a ton of different ones to choose from for around $22 or less. I pulled one of these bad boys and paired it with a simple black tank. To add a little edge, I put on a leather jack and pulled my hair back in a high ponytail. Keeping my makeup clean with my Chunky Cherry Clinique Chubby Stick and some jet black Lash Blast Mascara, I threw on a pair of dressy sandals and was ready to go in less than 10 minutes!

As you may or may not know, I am apart of the BP Fashion Board at Nordstroms. It is a great opportunity to get to experience the ins and outs of running a department store. There is a different topic each week that goes along with a challenge. For example, my last meeting consisted of touring the shoe department and learning where all the shoes are strategically placed for consumers. Our challenge was to create a TOM’s shoe to enter into a contest (exclusive to BP Fashion Board Members across the United States). The winner’s design is going to be featured in the 2013 fall collection at Nordstroms. If you want to join the BP Fashion Board, I posted a link to their website under Links!
