Happy Summer everyone! Sorry it’s been like forever since I made a post, but I’m back! This summer, I’ve seen denim EVERYWHERE! I know what you’re thinking, it’s soooo ridiculously hot to be wearing jeans in the summer! Ya, I know, but you can bring the trend in with other pieces, like bleached denim shorts and denim tanks (available at Abercrombie and Fitch in lighter fabrics that look like denim!) Take mine, for example. I found a super cute jean tank with spades stamped on with a blue paint and put it with a short jean skirt (always a classic)! Since there was so much blue going on in the outfit, I broke it up with twisted brown leather belt and taupe shoes! Don’t even get me started on how much I love these shoes! They’re tennis shoes on the outside, but have a sick heal on the inside for an instant boost! Plus, they’re super comfy!
I hope you all had a great spring break, I know I did! On my trip to Puerto Rico, I picked up a new color that finishes up spring and rings in summer; coral! The rich peachy tone is bright and cheery and is great for color blocking! Not only does it look good on all hair colors, but it also livens up any ensemble! I took the color out on one of my nights and Puerto Rico, and I loved the results! Sticking to the beachy theme, I put a lighter coral hi-low strapless dress (from Express) on that cinched at the waist. Keeping accessories to a minimum, I clasped a twisty gold cuff on to my wrist and kept the rest of the dress simple. Adding a pair of strappy wedges, I was ready for what the islands had to offer! If you want to go big on coral, try a dress like mine, a pair of jeans, or even a bag in the color! Find jewelry matched with gold and mint green accents for something a little more subtle or even try going for a coral lipgloss or blush!
There’s nothing better than freshly trimmed hair and color! That’s why I was thrilled to have my own restyled and updated last weekend! Razored layers and bright highlights were just what I needed to kick off spring! Anyway, army style is all the rage right now. Seventeen has filled a dozen pages sporting this tough look! Though I’m not crazy for camo, I decided to take on the trend in a different way. Beginning with basic boot leg jeans from Express, I added a pink lacy T (also from Express) for a girly approach. Keeping a mutual balance between fun and fierce, I pulled on an army green jacket with 3/4 sleeves and big pockets and a twisted brown leather belt (both from A&F). Although I could’ve pulled on my beloved combat boots, I slid into a strappy flip flop heel and called it spring! Then, I put on a brown leather cuff and grabbed a beige clutch and headed out!
So, I have recently felt bored with my current hairstyle. I mean, I love the color and highlights, the cut has just gotten old. I have constantly been tucking my hair behind my ears because it keeps falling in my face! I have come to the point of moving my part around just to keep it out of the way! Anyway, I was looking through the latest issue of W and came across some new inspiration: Emma Stone. As Spiderman’s girlfriend, she must have to manage her hair in some way to keep it looking perfect all day! In an ad for Revlon, I picked up on her thin side swept bang. I know I already have a bang, but hers looked different from mine. Hers consisted of layers in the bang instead of around it, and it had a softer, less harsh feel to it. I think I found my new style!
So, some things definitely need to stay in the past (like tight leather pants and afro’s), but scrunchies have made a comeback! Seventeen has brought them back in new fabrics and styles! From metallics and top knots to solids with whispy highlights, scrunchies are all the rage! My personal fave, though, is the bun with classic peachy makeup. Its easy and fast and gives you classic waves when you pull the scrunchie out! Just pull on a sweatshirt and you’re ready to go!
Now that winter is over, it’s time to break out cute florals and flowy fits! Even though the weather may be slightly heating up here in Florida, I think it’s still pretty chilly, especially at night! So, I warmed up my spring look in a way that incorporated the old and the new! Starting with Spring, I chose a loose fitted tank top in a cream color from BP at Nordstrom. For the winter portion, I added a pair of dark wash skinny jeans from A&F and my beloved sneaker heels! For more color, I grabbed my petite purple Henri Bendel purse and a black bow necklace piped in gold! Keeping the makeup simple, I opted for neutral golds and a peachy lip and cheek for a small spring glow. Soon enough, I was able to incorporate winter and spring into one outfit with versatile pieces in less than half an hour!
According to the February issue of Glamour magazine, Varsity jackets are making a huge entrance in the spring season! From Jessie J, Taylor Swift, and Lana Del Rey to One Direction’s Zayn Malik, the style has been confirmed as a major DO! A total fashion statement, these jackets come in a variety of styles and can be worn in tons of different ways! While Jessie J pairs her brightly colored jacket with metallics, Taylor Swift adds retro class to hers with a strand of pearls! I decided to test the trend myself by pairing a black leather varsity jacket covered in sequins with neutral solid color pieces and may favorite combat boots! Mixing textures with the jacket and adding in a little bit of teal accessories made the look edgy yet girly. I’m definitely excited to combine this jacket with last seasons trends for an updated style!
The February issue of Seventeen has arrived and Ke$ha looks flawless on the cover! The magazine raved over her feisty attitude and inspirational lyrics. When her first album came out, I was hooked on “Blind” and “Dancing with Tears in My Eyes.” On her new record, however, I’ve got a whole new obsession! After reading her interview and feeling completely empowered, I had to check out her new record “Warrior.” I’ve been cranking up the single “Warrior” as well as “Out Alive” and “C’Mon.” Not only are these tunes danceable, but they are also relatable and really addictive! I’ve had the album on repeat for the last 2 hours!! Check out Seventeen magazine and Ke$ha’s latest hits available now on iTunes!
Sadly, winter break has ended and it’s back to school for the next few months until March. Even though there is plenty of time to prepare for your spring break trip, it’s never a bad time to start shopping for the perfect vacay wear! Whether your going to the sunny side in Puerto Rico, or the Rock Mountains, versatile pieces that can be worn more than once are key. So, jeans or a black cami are a must, but what about something that can be worn 2 ways? Scarves are a great example! You can make them a belt, a skirt, a top, or simply wear it as a scarf! But if you’re looking for something that requires less time and effort, go for a skirt that can be worn as a dress! Available at Nordstrom, there are tube dresses that double as trendy skirts and are super easy to pack! As a dress, I paired my black and white patterned one with a leather jacket, bedazzled flip flops, and a silvery clutch! Easy, cute, and versatile! What more could one want?
Happy Holidays everyone! It’s the season to start busting out cozy sweaters and comfy boots! Something great about sweaters is that they are completely versatile! You can wear them with sweat pants, jeans, or skirts! To dress up my winter green sweater from BP at Nordstroms, I paired it with a mini jean skirt to girl it up a little. For a hard rock edge, I pulled on my brand new combat boots (thank you Santa!) and left the laces untied so the tongue can flare out. Accessory wise, a long gold necklace adorned with a feather and rhinestones elongated my neck and broke up my silhouette. To contrast with my green sweater, I decided on a petite plum Henri Bendel bag and lined my eyes in Make Up Forever eyeliner in Black Purple. This holiday season, don’t be afraid to mix and match crazy colors of eyeliners, bags, and basic pieces. Just make sure you stick to a maximum of three colors or less per outfit!
